A family practice in the county seat

Pearisburg Dental Center sits on Tazewell Street in Pearisburg, in a single-story building with parking at the door. Most of the people in our chairs are neighbors: from town, from Narrows, Pembroke and Rich Creek, and from out toward Newport, most of them a short drive away.

We see children and grandparents and everyone in between, for everyday care and for the bigger jobs, so that a crown, a root canal or an implant does not have to mean a trip to another town.

Who you will see

Dr. Seth Hines is the lead dentist, and Dr. Sameer Atrash, known to patients as Dr. Sam, works alongside him as associate dentist. The hygienists and assistants work with them as one team rather than a production line: the person who cleans your teeth is usually the person who cleaned them last time. Meet the team.

How we work

What we try to do consistently is simple enough to write down. Explain what we found before we touch anything. Show you the image on the screen rather than describing it. Give you the cost in writing. Tell you honestly what needs doing now and what could reasonably be watched. And then let you decide without anybody leaning on you.

If you are nervous about coming, say so when you book and again when you sit down. It changes how the appointment runs, and nitrous oxide and oral sedation are available for anyone who would rather have them.

Technology that makes a visit easier

Impressions are taken with an iTero digital scanner, a small camera on a wand, instead of a tray of impression putty. The scan is what crowns, bridges and Invisalign aligners are made from. X-rays use digital sensors, which need a fraction of the exposure film did, and the image appears on the screen beside you.

Insurance and paying for care

We are participating providers with Delta Dental, Cigna and United Concordia, and we work with many other plans, filing the claim for you. Before any larger treatment you get a written estimate. The details are on the insurance page. For people without dental insurance, the Virginia Dental Club is a membership plan with no deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting period.
